About lakshmi S. Nair
artist statement
I am always fascinated by motion and want to explore the concepts of motion through my paintings. The underlying essence of all these motions is “Shakti,” the dynamic, beyond-knowing, and ever-changing forces of nature. The motion in the material plane or physical motion resulting in the world of manifested physical realities, the motion of the mental plane or emotions resulting in the dream worlds, and the stillness arising from the evolutionary motion of our essence are the sources of my artistic inspiration. I am captivated by the geometrical underpinnings of the isometry that allow these motions to manifest and the immutable creative power behind these motions. These three-fold motions guide my paintings and subjects.
